8.5-inch OLED display with Apple Intelligence built in
A20 Pro chip, with a six-core processor on the 512GB models
12 megapixel cameras front and back
Touch ID in the top button, and up to ten hours of battery
Small enough for one hand, with a proper screen
The iPad mini is 8.5 inches of OLED, so blacks are genuinely black rather than dark grey, and photos and video have the contrast the old screen could not manage. It is still light enough to hold in one hand on a train, still slips into a coat pocket, and it now has speakers built into the display itself.
Pick your storage
128GB is plenty if you work mostly in the cloud. 256GB is the comfortable middle. The 512GB models go a step further than storage alone, with a six-core processor and a dual Neural Engine rather than the five-core chip in the smaller sizes, so they are the ones to choose if you lean on the AI features or edit video away from your desk.
Standard glass or nano-texture
Nano-texture glass is worth thinking about if you work by a window or outdoors, because it cuts reflections right down. It costs a little more and trades away a touch of sharpness, so standard glass is still the right choice for most people. It is offered on the 256GB and 512GB sizes.
Online wherever you are
Wi-Fi models connect through your home or office network, or through your phone when you are out. Wi-Fi plus Cellular has eSIM built in, so it finds its own connection without borrowing one, which is the version to pick if you work on the move.
